Kulali is a Rival 38’ pilothouse cutter with a centreboard keel. She was professionally constructed in aluminium and is ready for fit-out and rigging. The superb round-bilged hull has just been faired to an excellent standard and external painting completed up to but not including non-skid deck finish. Boot top and rubbing strips also require trim colour painting. The engine and many other major fit-out items are included. This yacht is a RIVAL 36 extended by the designer, Peter Brett to 11.75 metres (38.55ft). Although available in a deep keel version the Rival 36 was specifically designed as a centreboard yacht. It draws less than 1.2m with the board raised, just over 2 metres with it fully down. The Rival 36 was the sixth and last of the famous Rival Series of yachts designed by Peter Brett of Southampton, UK. You can find the history of the Rival yacht series on the rival owners website: rivalowners.org.uk . Over 600 Rivals were constructed in the UK. The first 36’ was launched in 1980. With this design Peter Brett perfected his application of the lessons learned from modern offshore racing hull and keel design to cruising yachts. It has the same sea-kindly and easily-driven hull form as the other boats in the Rival range to give you fast, safe passages, allowing a small number of crew to cruise long distances with a minimum of effort. The Rival 36 hull is renowned for fingertip balance at all angles of heel. This yacht was the last project of a retired engineer who had sailed almost all his life and cruised extensively in Australian waters. The experience of a lifetime on the water and a design engineer’s thoroughness are evident in the construction details incorporated so far. The spacious pilothouse cabin combined with the centreboard keel and cutter rig make this a comfortable cruising yacht, well suited to the Western Australian coastal conditions. Although galley and head location are already determined by hull pipework, flexibility still remains in the layout of accommodation and other particulars. (Inside, aluminium welded framing includes posts, partial bulkheads / deck re-inforcings and level shelves around the hull. These form ready mounting surfaces for plywood panels). The complete tankage requirement is built into the hull. All tanks are fully baffled and totally accessible through removable top panels. The secondary cooling circuit for the engine comprises heat transfer tubes welded internally to the hull. No seawater is involved. The following items are included with the sale of this yacht: New 4 cylinder 30hp Sabb diesel engine (Mitsubishi base motor, Danish marinisation), variable pitch propeller, Muir Cheetah electric anchor winch, methylated spirits galley stove with oven, galley sink, head basin, cabin heater, 3 x Moonlight hatches, Perspex blanks for all windows, navigation lighting and various miscellaneous fittings.
